I agree, at least people are doing something. I just know that it’s not enough, and its sad to sit across the Atlantic and see it all unfold in slow motion day after day. The Republican party aren’t following the rulebook, running roughshod over countless historic conventions, firing people they have no right to fire, taken control of agencies responsible for paying employees. There is only a small window now before they take complete control of federal agencies. The opposition would need to also stop playing by the rulebook to even stand a chance.

Project 2025 is like the military leaders from 1914 from the European nations that were desperate to put their untested war doctrines to the test, waiting for the excuse to do it. They have the manual. They have the machinery in place and someone has turned it on. They have thousands of people dedicated to seeing this plan through in official positions of power now, each with their own small but significant part to play in the takeover. I have a feeling it is now nearly impossible to turn it off.

I really hope those opposed to the takeover have the conviction to stop what’s coming, but I don’t think they grasp even now what it will take to stop it now. There’s an underlying assumption by key opposition figures that this will play out like a Hollywood storyline and giving big speeches with the right words will mean the Constitution and other existing legislation will save them. Trump’s cabal didn’t follow the law before, so it will do nothing to stop them now.

Civil lawsuits against a taxpayer-funded administration and the richest man in the world aren’t going to touch the sides during this blitzkreig coup. Immediate intervention with arrests and sanctions, combined with widespread unrest from local authorities and public protests are likely to be the only way anything will change now, and it would have to happen soon, before Elon breaks into the final remaining departments to take over.

I have only ever bought phones with a 3.5mm jack. I have expensive Sony headphones I use for music and would hate having that option taken away from me. That’s why Fairphone is still a miss for me right now.

All of my Bluetooth experiences from headphones to Alexa devices have been more of a nuisance than a convenience, often not pairing, randomly unpairing or forgetting connectivity, finding it difficult to unpair to pair another device, not finding devices literally centimetres away, draining phone battery faster, short bluetooth device lifespan, recharging requirements, sound quality, and price points all going against them. I have seen people unironically suggest adding a wire to the Bluetooth headphones so you could charge them from your phone while listening to music. Bluetooth isn’t good enough to supercede wires.

Usb C converter is not the same as plain wired connectivity, its more fragile than 3.5mm, it cannot be rotated or twisted, it is bulkier, prevents charging at the same time, and adds yet another small expensive wire to forget, lose, or break. It solves a problem no-one asked for. Anyone who doesn’t want a smashed screen has a chunky case so phone thinness doesn’t matter.

I just want all of my tech to work with each other universally. We used to have the choice of both and I think returning to this standard will make everyone happy.

Still no 3.5mm jack, still no dice for me.
