Hi, I’ve bought a Netgear GS108LP and it seems that it isn’t working correctly. As you can see in the video, when I power the switch on, the right LEDs (PoE Mode) flash yellow for about 1 second, but the left LEDs (Link/ACT Mode) don’t show anything. The cable connected to port 1 is directly connected to my router and the cable in port 5 is connected to a Philips Hue bridge. I’m sure that both cables work, because they work with other switches. I’ve already tried different cables too, but it’s the same result. Has anyone an idea how I can fix this issue? Thanks

Man, I’ve had problems with that line of switches too. Not that exact model, but similar.

First idea would be factory reset and do that a couple times.

Second idea is unplug everything, reboot, and wait. Then wait some more. Just when you feel like it shouldn’t be taking this long, give it another minute to plug your stuff in.

My particular managed model seemed to have a problem linking at different speeds. Your Hue bridge uses an older/cheaper chip that is perfectly applicable for the device, but runs at a max slower speed. Try not connecting that. It caused all sorts of problems for me and terrible performance for all devices.

Eventually I returned my Netgear unit and got a TP Link thingy that’s been working great.

Thanks I will try. I’ve had TP Link switches in the past too and never had any issues with TP Link…

I see nothing on the video, so can’t comment on that, but could you test the switch by connecting a router to the 1st port and a notebook to every other port one by one, to check whether the devices talk to each other?

I assume that the router acts as DHCP server, and the notebook is set to DHCP address lease, so no additional configuration is needed…

Tried with with different cables again and tried to connect a notebook and a raspberry pi. I’ve also tried every single port, but nothing shows up on the devices and no LEDs flash/blink. :(

If there’s a rest button somewhere there, use it.

Also, check whether it gets proper amount of power - that the electrical plug fits in, doesn’t mean the charger is enough to power it up.

If it fails, then I guess it’s time to replace the hardware.

There is no reset button since it is an unmanaged switch, so it’s just plug and play. I’m sure it gets proper amount of power. The support now just told me that the best would be to just get a replacement.
