To fix Account Error, go to “csgo” folder, found “steam.inf”, or just “steam” file, change first line “ClientVersion” to “2000258”, and all will work

What do you mean free? You literally can’t get this even with money. It’s called preservation and people enjoying the “good old versions”
CS:GO is a free game. I was wondering about pirating a game that is 100% online. Are people downloading this only playing against bots? Are there going to be private servers also rolledback to a previous version? I’m just curious
Was* a free game. Now it’s unavailable with no legal means of getting it.
There have always been something called “legacy servers”. The link in this post that links to the download actually includes some of those servers.
Some people don’t like the update because it removed game modes among other features. Yeah, I could get them back by self hosting a server and modifying parameters, but it’s a hassle.
It would have been nice if they simply released a new app instead of overwriting an existing version.
